About
Peer Place is a weekday program for adults who have aged out of special education programs and are looking for continued development in life skills, social support, and fun! Through Peer Place, participants will encounter everyday activities such as Bible Study, gym class, and monthly themes all presented at their level of development. Field trips to local restaurants, non-profits, and even the theater allow for in-moment practice of life skills.
Other areas of focus include budgeting and money changing skills, health and hygiene, plant care, navigating household chores, crafts and pen pal programs, and community engagement with special visitors from all over Sumner County.
Peer Place also celebrates the differences that make each student special, such as World Down Syndrome Day, World CP Day, and World Autism Day. Additionally, special activities are planned for calendar holidays like Valentines, Halloween, Christmas, and Easter.
