The desire of First Baptist Hendersonville is to connect every person and every generation to God, others and service. In the body of Christ, we are all given unique gifts and talents that we can use to serve Him and His people. From teachers to greeters, and media volunteers there is a place for everyone to serve. Sunday Morning Kid-Connect Groups:

Guide preschoolers in Bible learning activities, stories and crafts at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00. Age-graded classes and all resources /curriculum provided. Team teaching (no one teaches alone) every week or every other week.    

Wednesday evening Kid-Venture:

Music, Missions and more…older preschoolers rotate through Mission adventures, Bible story/activities, Music experiences and Recreation/snack rotation. All the resources/lesson plans are provided. Team teaching (no one teaches alone). Kid-Venture runs through the school year (August through May).

Sunday Connect Group Leaders for 8:30, 9:45, 11:00 a.m.

Take the opportunity to make a Godly impression in the hearts of children. Prepare and present Bible lessons and fun activities from the curriculum provided that connect kids to God’s truths. Lead teachers and helper opportunities available.

Sunday Welcome Center Greeters for 8:30, 9:45, 11:00 a.m.

Enlisting friendly folks who like to meet new people and help others. Greet guest families, assign children to classes, and help families find their way around campus. In general, forming a positive first impression for families and helping everyone feel loved as they come and go.

Sunday Children’s Worship at 9:45 a.m.

Music Leaders – be a part of a rotating team that chooses weekly music and motions from our current music library. Introduce new kid-friendly songs that go along with the weekly theme.

Media Volunteers – assist with audio, video, and lighting to enhance a child’s worship experience.

Encouragers – sit among an age group of children to help them experience a positive and meaningful time of worship.

Teach the gospel, build relationships, and facilitate small group activities with Preteens. We provide the materials to help make it easy for you to be the best leader you can be, making a difference in the lives of those you teach.

Welcome Desk Greeter
For those who love to put a smile on other’s faces as they begin their Sunday morning. Greeters will help with check-in procedures and direct those who need help finding a class.

Wednesday Phase 45 Openings:
Wednesday Night Greeter. Wednesday night greeters will help check in Preteens as they enter the Rally Room and help monitor the kids as they start off the night.

Track Group Leaders
For those who have a specific skill or gift that they would love to teach a small group of Preteens for a semester. It’s a fun atmosphere to help kids learn how to use their gifts and talents for the glory of God!

Community Impact Helpers (lead is in place) serving others in our community and communities around the world through hands on projects.

Make it or Bake it (lead is in place) learn the basics of cooking while making fun recipes and creating exciting crafts.

X-Treme Skills Helpers (lead is in place) teaching basic hands onbuilding, survival, and life skills to boys and girls.

Music director and helpers – assist the music class in learning fun new songs each week. Preteens will also lead out in worship on Wednesday nights in large group.

Guitar/Drumming Helpers (lead is in place) preteens will learn the basics to beginner guitar and drumming in this fun track.

Drama Helpers (lead is in place) have fun learning acting skills through drama and speaking.

Sewing helpers (lead is in place) assist preteens as they learn the basics of sewing and creating simple sewing and mission projects.

Robotics Helper (lead is in place) have fun learning how to build simple robots using Lego type tools and iPads to teach the robots to perform tasks.

Sunday Connect Group Leaders

Adults who desire to connect with middle schoolers and their parents through gospel-centered relationships. Sunday Connect Group leaders lead a small group of students on Sunday mornings through teaching of curriculum, facilitating discussion, and helping students grow in their love of God’s Word.

Wednesday Small Group Leaders

Adults who desire to help connect students to community through small group conversation and Christ-centered fun.


Coordinates with Middle School Connect Groups and their leaders to help students feel missed through intentional acts of kindness such as writing cards or phone calls.


Adults who want to help create a warm, fun, and welcoming environment where students well known, valued, and connected from the moment they step in our building.


Adults who desire to provide a rush of excitement in Middle School Ministry in the form of milkshakes and other sugary snacks.

Sunday Connect Group Leader

An adult who wants to make students feel known, build relationships, teach, facilitate discussion, and help students grow in their love and understanding of God’s Word on Sunday mornings.

Sunday or Wednesday Welcome Team

An adult who wants to help create a fun and welcoming environment in order to help each student feel valued and excited to be at church.

Wednesday Small Group Leader

An adult that serves as a small group leader on Wednesday nights to guide students closer to Jesus through conversation and community, centered on God’s Word.

Adult Ministry

CHEERMAKERS is a ladies card-making and paper arts group that meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in Weekley 1103. This group ministers to the homebound, military serving overseas, and to those who have been ill or who have lost loved ones. The team leader is Vicki Romaine.

HOOKS AND NEEDLES is a ladies group who ministers to cancer patients, the homeless, and families of preemies through sewing, knitting and crocheting. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in Weekley 1103. The team leader is Nancy Rogers.

MEALS ON WHEELS volunteers serve as full-time and substitute drivers delivering meals to Hendersonville’s homebound. The team leaders are Buck & Susan Owen.

LIBRARY volunteers manage all aspects of the church library on Sundays and throughout the week. The team leader is Darlene Carlton.
NASHVILLE RESCUE MISSION volunteers serve meals, help with the preparation of some food items, and assist with light cleanup at the Nashville Rescue Mission from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. the first, second and third Tuesdays of each month. The team leader is Carolyn White.
SISTER SERVANTS MINISTRY provides memorial meals and support during times of grief for church members who are not connected to a Connect Group or the Music Ministry. The team leader is Janice Cushenberry.
S.O.S. BACKPACK MINISTRY provides a weekend’s worth of nutritious, non-perishable food items to 600 elementary students each week during the school year. Ministry volunteers assist in a variety of ways including sorting, shelving, packing, and delivering food items to area schools. The team leader is Jan Lee.
SUNDAY MORNING BUS MINISTRY provides a safe method of transporting adults living in area retirement centers to the 9:45 Sunday worship service. Volunteers serve as drivers and assist passengers to and from the bus. The team leader is Tom Strong.

First Impressions | Sunday morning

There are so many people behind the scenes that help the Sunday and Wednesday services go smoothly. Every role makes a difference in creating an inviting atmosphere where all feel welcome and seen.

Here are a few of the ways you can get involved on Sunday mornings:

Door Greeters / Bulletins – Be the first face people see when they come to First Baptist Church Hendersonville on Sunday morning. Making it to church on Sunday morning can be hard for many different reasons, volunteers are needed to create a warm, welcoming and encouraging environment.

Welcome Desk Hosts – A church this size can be intimidating, volunteers are needed to help guests where they belong. Our goal as a church is to connect every generation to God, others and service. There is a place for every person at this church. From what service to go to, to connect groups, and how to find their way around our campus, help connect every person who comes in these walls to community.

Worship Ministry

Do you love lifting a joyful noise to the Lord? Has God blessed you with the ability to play an instrument? One of the best ways we can worship is by using our gifts to glorify Him. There are multiple ways to serve with our worship ministry.

Choir and Orchestra – The choir and orchestra lead worship every Sunday morning in the traditional services at 8:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. and rehearse at 6:30 pm.m on Wednesday nights.  Contact to get involved!

Contemporary Worship Team – The 9:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. contemporary services are led by our praise team, contemporary worship choir, and praise band. Auditions are required to be a part of the praise team or praise band. Reach out to to find out more information.


Media Ministry

Every Wednesday Night and Sunday Morning Service could not happen if it were not for our incredible media team. Use your gifts, talents, and interests to worship by serving on the media live production team. Contact to find out about serving opportunities in the media ministry.


Communications Ministry

God has given every person unique gifts that they can use to serve Him. The communications ministry has several opportunities for those to serve while using their creative abilities.

Online Church Greeters

Each week, there are nearly 1,000 people who attend our church via Facebook Live or stream online. Volunteers are needed to engage, welcome, and build community with those watching the Sunday morning Online Church.

Photographers and Videographers

From Wednesday night activities to Sunday morning services and all the exciting events in between, there are many ways to serve on the photography and videography teams. Learn the basics of photography and videography as we capture what the Lord is doing through FBCH. No experience necessary!
