MISSIONS MINISTRY

MAKING A GLOBAL IMPACT

We seek to connect every generation to God, others and service. We begin here at home in our community, in our state, in our country. And we work to spread the good news of Jesus around the world.

OUR JERUSALEM

SUMNER COUNTY, TN

First Baptist Hendersonville is in Southwest Sumner County, TN, but our nearby area of gospel witness extends into other areas of the county including Gallatin and Goodlettsville. We reach these areas through a variety of church initiatives and through our partnership with several Christ-centered non-profit organizations.

OUR JUDEA

Madison, TN

In 2019 we formed a partnership with Madison First Baptist to help them revitalize this one-thriving church located on the north-eastern side of Nashville, just 15 minutes away from First Baptist Hendersonville.

Madison FBC in the 70’s and early 80’s had a membership of over 1000 people was well connected to the community with a bus ministry and VBS. Then several factors saw its decline to a weekly attendance of 50 to 60 people.

Our church has helped MFBC not only restore worship to its beautiful sanctuary but has also provided Madison with the first pastor it has had in a dozen years. Sergio Arce, who is originally from Honduras, has been leading MFBC to reach the ever-changing and diverse community of Madison.

Madison still needs help in several areas: teaching preschool, children, youth and adults; praise and worship; community outreach; security team; and more. If you’re interested in serving a day or longer, contact Mike McClanahan, FBCH mission pastor, at mmcclanahan@fbchtn.org or by calling 615-447-1374.

OUR SAMARIA

New York City

We have sent out one of our own church members, Chris Mills, and his wife, Sarah, to plant a church in a community of Manhattan, New York, called Hell’s Kitchen. The church officially launched in 2020, during the height of the Coronavirus Pandemic. It’s called One Community Church, and it’s focused on reaching the people in that community that has a sordid past as a hub of Irish mob activity

Located near Times Square, OCC has been successfully engaging the community through a variety of outreach efforts and by being involved in neighborhood activities.  Chris and Sarah also work closely with other churches and church plants in New York as they coordinate their efforts through the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association (MNYBA).

As OCC’s sending church, we have unique opportunities to be engaged with the work Chris and Sarah are doing in New York. If you’d like to be part of that effort or learn more about it, contact Mike McClanahan, mission pastor, at mmcclanahan@fbchtn.org or phone 615-447-1374.

OUR ENDS OF THE EARTH

Guatemala

While our church serves in many different areas around the globe, such as Kenya, Latvia, India, Japan and other areas of Asia, we have a unique partnership with the church in Guatemala.

Through our partnership with E3 Volunteers, we partner with two churches and their pastors in Guatemala – one in the southern department (state) of Jutiapa, and the other in the northern department of Huehuetenango. Our partnership allows us to come alongside these two churches and help them with growing their churches through outreach and evangelism like VBS and sports camps to community development like dental and health education clinics as well as pastor training.

E3 Volunteers also provides opportunities for our church to help even while here at home. During the COVID-19 lock-down in the spring of 2020, we worked with E3 Volunteers to fund the purchase of much needed food bags that local pastors distributed among their communities.

If you’d like to engage with the work in Guatemala at any level, contact Mike McClanahan, mission pastor, at mmcclanahan@fbchtn.org or phone 615-447-1374.
